The Mercantour territory

With a length of 150 km, the territory extends over six valleys in the Southern Alps and covers two departments of France: the Alpes-Maritimes for about two-thirds of its surface, and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The crystalline massif of the Mercantour National Park has valleys filled with the scents of the Mediterranean, Provence, the Alps and Italy. Verdon, Cians-Var, Ubaye, Tinée, Vésubie and Roya-Bévéra: each valley has its own distinct character!

The Mercantour Écotourisme association, as its name suggests, develops ecotourism, a form of responsible travel in natural areas that contributes to the protection of the environment and the well-being of local populations. Alongside the Mercantour National Park, it is a member of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST).

Their values, their background

Itinérance Trekking regroupe des professionnels de la montagne et promeut un tourisme responsable depuis 35 ans dans le parc national du Mercantour. Nous élevons aussi des ânes pour la randonnée en famille, tous nés ici dans nos montagnes. Nous proposons des randonnées avec portage des bagages sur un circuit d'hébergements tous impliqués dans le développement économique responsable de notre vallée. Les affaires sont portées soit par les hébergeurs soit par un de nos ânes.

C'est dans une vallée méconnue et fabuleuse, la haute vallée du Var, au coeur de la réserve naturelle des gorges rouges de Daluis et du parc national du Mercantour, que notre agence Itinerance Trekking, tournée vers un tourisme responsable depuis 30 ans, organise des séjours de randonnées.
