The Mercantour territory

With a length of 150 km, the territory extends over six valleys in the Southern Alps and covers two departments of France: the Alpes-Maritimes for about two-thirds of its surface, and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The crystalline massif of the Mercantour National Park has valleys filled with the scents of the Mediterranean, Provence, the Alps and Italy. Verdon, Cians-Var, Ubaye, Tinée, Vésubie and Roya-Bévéra: each valley has its own distinct character!

The Mercantour Écotourisme association, as its name suggests, develops ecotourism, a form of responsible travel in natural areas that contributes to the protection of the environment and the well-being of local populations. Alongside the Mercantour National Park, it is a member of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST).

REFUGE DE LA CANTONNIÈRE, refuge de montagne du Parc National du Mercantour

Anne-Marie et Philippe vous accueillent chaleureusement au Refuge de la Cantonnière. Philippe, guide et expert de Haute Montagne aime échanger avec ses hôtes , Anne-Marie amoureuse de la nature concocte de délicieux et généreux plats . Première étape de la Grande traversée du Mercantour, accessible en voiture Eté comme Hiver, les amoureux de la nature peuvent profiter l’Eté des nombreuses balades à partir du refuge, seuls, en famille, entre amis ou en groupe ; l’Hiver la pratique du ski de randonnée et du ski de fond autour du Refuge est un véritable plaisir quel que soit le niveau.

An ancient roadmen’s house dating back to the beginning of the twentieth century, the charm and authenticity of the refuge have been preserved. The refuge is currently owned by the Mercantour National park.
