The Mercantour territory

With a length of 150 km, the territory extends over six valleys in the Southern Alps and covers two departments of France: the Alpes-Maritimes for about two-thirds of its surface, and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The crystalline massif of the Mercantour National Park has valleys filled with the scents of the Mediterranean, Provence, the Alps and Italy. Verdon, Cians-Var, Ubaye, Tinée, Vésubie and Roya-Bévéra: each valley has its own distinct character!

The Mercantour Écotourisme association, as its name suggests, develops ecotourism, a form of responsible travel in natural areas that contributes to the protection of the environment and the well-being of local populations. Alongside the Mercantour National Park, it is a member of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST).

Their values, their background

Je suis responsable d'exploitation du Pôle universitaire Séolane situé à Barcelonnette. L'association Séolane est, depuis sa création en 2011, un acteur du développement de la culture scientifique sur le territoire de l'Ubaye à travers des rencontres et conférences, des débats, des projections, des animations scientifiques ouvertes au grand public. Elle intervient également dans les écoles et travaille avec de nombreux acteurs locaux dans la cadre d’une dynamique de réseau (Parc national du Mercantour, ONF, Bureaux accompagnateurs en montagne ...).

Depuis 2018, les actions se spécialisent sur la sensibilisation au changement climatique.
