The Mercantour territory

With a length of 150 km, the territory extends over six valleys in the Southern Alps and covers two departments of France: the Alpes-Maritimes for about two-thirds of its surface, and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The crystalline massif of the Mercantour National Park has valleys filled with the scents of the Mediterranean, Provence, the Alps and Italy. Verdon, Cians-Var, Ubaye, Tinée, Vésubie and Roya-Bévéra: each valley has its own distinct character!

The Mercantour Écotourisme association, as its name suggests, develops ecotourism, a form of responsible travel in natural areas that contributes to the protection of the environment and the well-being of local populations. Alongside the Mercantour National Park, it is a member of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST).

Their values, their background

Depuis 2003, l'association Maison Musée et Forts Vauban du Haut Verdon située à Colmars les Alpes mène un travail de collecte et de recherche dans le but de présenter aux visiteurs l'ensemble de ce patrimoine culturel, matériel autant qu'immatériel ; ce sont des objets, des vêtements ou encore des outils mais aussi des pratiques et des savoirs faire qui sont présentés, autant de témoignages du passé qui nous renseignent sur les modes de vies d'une vallée de moyenne montagne.

Robert Michel, Président de la Maison Musée a installé en 2022 une exposition de vélos retraçant toute l'histoire de ce moyen de locomotion.

Maison Musée et Chemin de ronde

The Maison Musée is an early 20th-century bourgeois house, opening onto the chemin de ronde and its towers, which have been converted into exhibition and re-enactment areas. Here you'll find an apothecary's shop and a small cinema.
